“For me the most fascinating aspect of painting in oil is the startling effect a thick multicolored stroke of paint can have. It can resemble a human gesture, wind swept grass, a field of sunny flowers, the crack of a bat, or waves in a storm...Many of my images depict the subjects I have observed most often, know well, and feel comfortable recreating in paint."

- Lark MacPhail

Lark MacPhail is a Chicago impressionist artist who uses both oils and watercolors to paint scenes in four main areas:

 4Baseball, including Chicago Cubs art
 4Florals and still life
 4Landscapes
 4Figuratives

She holds the subjects of her paintings near to her heart, often painting the people and places most familiar to her, such as children in landscape and the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Because Lark is a Winnetka artist, she also paints many scenes familiar to the North Shore community.

Lark MacPhail has been involved in the art world in a variety of ways throughout her career, including teaching art to high school students and working for the art department of an award-winning advertising agency. As a Chicago impressionist artist, Lark is a member of the North Shore Art League and the Chicago Artists' Coalition. She is a founding member of The Treetop Studio in Winnetka, Illinois, where she paints with three other local artists.
