“For
me the most fascinating aspect of painting in oil is the startling effect a
thick multicolored stroke of paint can have. It can resemble a human gesture,
wind swept grass, a field of sunny flowers, the crack of a bat, or waves in a
storm...Many of my images depict the subjects I have observed most often, know
well, and feel comfortable recreating in paint."
